I'm Not a Weight Loss Coach (And What I Actually Do)

I need to have a vulnerable conversation with you today about something that's been weighing on me — and I have a feeling it might be weighing on you too.

The most common reason women reach out to me is weight loss. It's the opening line in nearly every discovery call: "I just need to lose this weight."

And I get it. I really do.

But here's what I want you to know: I'm not a weight loss coach.

I teach women how to manage their symptoms. How to navigate this seismic shift that is perimenopause and menopause — the intersection of a changing body, an empty nest (or shifting parenting role), aging or grieving parents, and all the identity questions that come with this phase of life.

I'm here to help you become strong physically, emotionally, and energetically. To help you feel like yourself again when everything feels foreign. To help you thrive in this next chapter, not just survive it.

But the weight loss conversation persists. And with the current media frenzy around GLP-1s (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro), it's louder than ever.

So let's talk about it.

The GLP-1 Noise

I want to be really clear: I am not against GLP-1 medications. They're beneficial for many people (including people I love). But there is a grey area here - and if you’ve worked with me, you know I love the shades of grey!

What troubles me isn't the medications themselves. It's the discourse around them.

What bothers me is how loudly we're celebrating weight loss without any regard for how it impacts those of us who have fought really hard to get out of abusive cycles of dieting, disordered eating, and eating disorders.

The noise that's troubling isn't "food noise." It's the cultural noise that screams "thin is better than fat" without any space for nuance about:

  • The diversity of human bodies

  • The dangers of weight cycling

  • The fine line between making money and healthcare

  • The reality that many bodies are healthy at different sizes

Where I Stand

My criticism is reserved for institutions and media rhetoric — not for individuals.

I strongly believe that everyone is entitled to do whatever works for them, whatever makes living in this body feel easier, safer, or more joyful. Including intentionally losing weight. You have full agency over your own body, and I support that completely.

But I also want to offer a different path for those who are tired of fighting their bodies.

These days, I find more ease, safety, and joy in living in a body I'm not constantly battling. I find it in discovering all the ways I am strong — whether that's lifting something heavy, setting a boundary, or allowing myself to rest when I was taught only hustle is worthy.

I find it when I prioritize my mental health as much as my physical health. When I invest in my relationships — my marriage, my friendships, my community. The more I pour into connection, the stronger and happier I feel. As a B-Type introvert, this isn’t sometimes really hard for me. But it’s worth it.

And here's the thing: my desire to live well in my body has nothing to do with my weight. Or yours.

It's about wanting to live a health span that lasts as long as my life span.

What I'm Actually Offering

Next week, I’m hosting a workshop called How to Reverse Weight Gain in Perimenopause. And I know how that might sound given everything I just said.

But here's what I want you to understand: this program isn't about shrinking you. It's not about making you smaller or "fixing" what's broken.

It's about addressing the metabolic changes, the insulin resistance, the visceral fat accumulation, the muscle loss, and the hormonal chaos that genuinely impact your health and how you feel in your body.

Because here's the truth: many women come to me focused on the number on the scale, but what they're really asking for is:

  • To feel strong again

  • To sleep through the night

  • To have stable energy and moods

  • To fit comfortably in their clothes

  • To feel like themselves

  • To not feel betrayed by their body

And yes, sometimes addressing the underlying metabolic and hormonal issues results in weight changes. But that's not mygoal when women work with me— it's a possible side effect of becoming metabolically healthier.

I think women are perfect. As long as your weight is in a healthy range and doesn't pose genuine health risks, it shouldn't matter what size you wear.

I care about there being as many examples of thriving bodies as there are types of bodies. I care about being an example and having examples for myself, too. And please don’t get me wrong - I notice the shifts in my own body. And I still struggle with them. I am in the work right alongside you.

And I care about acknowledging how challenging it can feel to watch so many of our examples shrink before our eyes — especially in midlife, when we're already navigating so much change.

The Bottom Line

I'm here to help you become the strongest, most energized, most vibrant version of yourself — whatever that looks like for you.

There are legitimate metabolic and hormonal changes in perimenopause and menopause that impact how you feel, how you sleep, how you move through the world and I’ve navigated them all myself.

I'm here to offer resources and support wherever I can — without judgment, without shame, and with deep desire to help you not suffer.

As Marc D’Arcy in Bridget Jones says “I like you just the way you are”. You are enough, exactly as you are. And you also deserve support in feeling your absolute best.
