Welcome to A Lovenote.
A weekly digest where I say hello and share. You’ll find things you can cook this week + some things you didn’t ask for but might enjoy. I’m so glad you are here!
Hello lovely,
What a week it's been! But before I dive in – how are YOU? How has July been treating you? This newsletter is late in coming as we had some family drama with an emergency hospital visit for my father-in-law, but the great news is that he is on the mend and will be up and at it again before we know it. He’s got too much life in him still to be down for too long!
A Celebration Worth Sharing
Last weekend, we threw Fras the party of a lifetime for his 50th – bigger than our wedding, with friends traveling from everywhere to celebrate this incredible milestone. You know how Fras is famous for that thick head of hair (a rarity in our friend group these days!), right? Well, he decided to shave it all off at the party to raise money for Campfire Circle, a cause that's so close to our hearts.
The result? Almost $90,000 raised!
The sweetest part was watching all our kids, nieces, and nephews take turns helping with the big shave. I'm so proud of him, and honestly? He looks just as handsome with his new buzz cut.
When Did You Last Really Rest?
Between hosting that celebration, cottage hopping, welcoming guests, and keeping up with my usual routine, I've been reflecting on something important: the power of rest.
When was the last time you really rested? Like, stepped away from your phone, turned down invitations, cooked less, and intentionally lived in the moment?
For me, it's been so long I honestly can't remember. Not because I'm avoiding work, but because of that constant go-go-go from one thing to the next.
This week, I'm changing that. I'm letting my body wake up naturally, spending more time laughing and being present. When I'm doing something, I'm doing it fully. I'm planning to lie in the hammock with a good piece of fiction in the evenings.
You're Underestimating Rest (I Know I Do)
I guarantee you underestimate the power of rest. I know I do – hello, Type A high achiever over here! We think we need to keep pushing, striving, accomplishing.
But what if, instead of searching for the next supplement, faster workout, or new meal plan, you chose to REST instead?
The biological impact of rest on your body is truly remarkable. I know it's not always easy, but consider this: What if rest was the one missing ingredient in your health and wellness journey? Don't you think it's worth trying?
Your Rest Challenge
This is exactly what I'm working on with one of my clients this week – just resting. And I'd love to invite you to schedule a day (or two!) of rest in the coming weeks. Call in sick if you need to. Send the kids to summer camp. Do nothing. And notice how you feel.
If you're navigating perimenopause symptoms and wondering how rest fits into your bigger health picture, I'd love to chat. Book a hormone clarity call to learn how my UNSTUCK program might help you find the balance you're seeking.
Here's to slowing down,
Christie xox
P.S. Seriously – when will you schedule your rest day? Reply and let me know! 🩷
P.P.S I put together a 5 day challenge to jump start your habits so you can feel like yourself again in perimenopause! It’s sustainable, repeatable and self-directed. Curious to learn more? Add your name to the priority list and i’ll send you more details as soon as it’s ready to launch!
My client, Sierra, shared with me this homemade electrolyte that I can’t wait to make this week! It’s another hot one here in Ontario, so make sure you are staying hydrated!
Some things you didn’t ask for (but might enjoy)...
HABITS. After weeks of summer parties, events, houseguests, and cottage adventures, I'll be the first to admit – my sleep has taken a hit. You know how it goes: late nights, disrupted routines, and suddenly that deep, restorative sleep feels like a distant memory.
But here's what I've learned (and keep relearning): when I stick to my sleep protocol and stay consistent with my routine, everything changes. I sleep better, I feel better, and life just flows more smoothly.
I originally created this comprehensive Sleep & Stress Guide for participants in my Cortisol Workshop back in June, but I wanted to share it with all of you. If you've been tossing and turning lately, this might be exactly what you need.
Here's the thing – in my signature coaching program UNSTUCK, sleep is one of the very first things we address. And there's a good reason for that. We've become so accustomed to powering through on coffee and sheer willpower, but when your body doesn't get the rest it desperately needs, perimenopause symptoms intensify. Suddenly, the energy, weight management, and emotional balance you're working toward feels that much more out of reach.

TRAVEL. We’ve been living between two cottage country areas this summer - packing and unpacking. Collingwood is all activity, social, exercise and farm living. Muskoka is dock time, boating, great meals and family time. I’m so happy to have these experiences and also, so happy to come home to my own bed.
Fras and I are dropping the kids off at camp this long weekend, and we’re jetting away to visit friends in the south of France! 🇫🇷. We are staying with them in Biarritz for a few days, then off to San Sebastián. Please send recommendations!
ADVICE. Since early winter, I’ve been on a mission to rid our house of plastics. If you are also on a journey to reduce microplastics in your life, this article gives you realistic tips on how to do that. These are my airtight glass food storage containers that I love. I always get asked about the overnight oats jars that I use. These are them. I also have this silicone utensil set that I absolutely love.
LISTENING. Last week I shared this Spontaneous Girl Playlist and so many of you have sent me notes telling me how much you’re loving it! I’m so glad! Question for you: Do you like these recommendations? Or do you prefer more hormone/nutrition specific information? In this newsletter, I like to keep it more personal but wondering if that’s something that you’re interested in? I am considering sending a more educational email/newsletter in-between these more lengthy, personal ones. Thoughts? Hit reply and let me know! I get all your emails personally, and look forward to them!
READING. I just finished reading The Favorites, by Layne Fargo via the Libby App. I’ve loved it. Do you use Libby? The wait times can take some patience, but there is nothing better than the surprise that your book has finally become available and you can dive into it.
SHOPPING. A restock of my favourite protein powder.
WATCHING. Just binged The Four Seasons, with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell on Netflix. It was sooo good! I need a new series! Any great recommendations?
FOOD. If you’re a peanut butter fan, you’ll be thrilled with this news.
Don’t forget about my limited time discount for Inspired Go’s delicious salad delivery service. (they truly are inspired!). My discount code expires this week. I’m always wary of delivery services when I can DIY it, but having these salads on hand has been so amazing for my whole family. I spend $144 for 12 salads. My favourites are the new Peach Caprese Salad. I also love the California Crunch. My girls love the Noodle Fraiche Salad and Fras is a super fan of the High Protein Cobb Salad. CODE: CHRISTIEWELLNESS. If they don’t yet deliver to your area, make sure to fill out this form to let them know you want your address on their map!
That’s it for me this morning. Thank you for reading and continuing to support this newsletter ❤️ Fill me in on what you’re up to and what you’d like to see more of. xoC
