Welcome to A Lovenote.
A weekly digest where I say hello and share. You’ll find things you can cook this week + some things you didn’t ask for but might enjoy. I’m so glad you are here!
Good morning, my dear!
Did I ever tell you about the time I found my elderly neighbour dead on his kitchen floor?
It’s not the story I ever imagined sharing in a wellness newsletter—but I can’t stop thinking about it.
It was just before Christmas last year. His wife, Erica, has advanced dementia. That morning, she left a note on Fraser’s car. It looked like chicken scratches, but we could just make out that she needed help.
I went next door, knocking and calling, but everything was locked. I was about to call 911 when I tried the back door—it swung open. The house was quiet. Still. I called for Erica, but there was no answer.
Something in me knew—Jim was gone. And in that moment, I was terrified Erica might be, too. My body flooded with adrenaline as I searched the house. It was messy, hard to navigate. Then I saw him in the kitchen.
I don’t want to speak ill of the dead, but Jim hadn’t been kind to Erica. We’d often hear him yelling at her through the walls. Still, nothing prepares you for that kind of moment.
I found Erica asleep on the couch. When I gently woke her, she looked up at me with the most peaceful, grateful expression I’ve ever seen. The paramedics came, and a few days later, a social worker called to say Erica was doing remarkably well in assisted living.
I think about that moment often—Erica’s peaceful smile, the way life can change in an instant, how easy it is to sleepwalk through our days until something wakes us up.
It reminded me that none of us know how much time we have. And yet, so many of us spend our days feeling off—tired, foggy, bloated, stuck. We push through. We tell ourselves we’ll deal with it later. Or that it will pass.
But summer is short. Life is short. And you don’t have to wait to feel better.
If you’ve been putting your health on the back burner—if you’re nodding your head thinking, “Sounds familiar…”—I’ve created something just for you.
It’s called 5 Days to Perimenopause Relief, and it’s a mini course designed to help you feel more energized, less bloated, and more you—in just five days. Think of it as a reset button for your hormones, your habits, and your hope.

You don’t have to overhaul your life. You just have to take the first step.

My soft background vibes this summer:
Some things you didn’t ask for (but might enjoy)...
HABITS. Walking. Revolutionary, I know! Never underestimate the power of an old fashioned walk. Walk to the library. Walk to the ice cream store. Walk with a weighted vest. Walk to hear the birds. Walk with a friend and feel the endorphins surge.
Have you tried red light therapy yet? I’ve been loving my hands-free red light therapy mask. It takes about 12 weeks to see results, but I’m enjoying the self-care of it in my evening routine. You can use LOVESTORY for a discount on yours.
I just ordered some NAD+ supplements to try. I’ve been reading a little about how NMN may help with cellular energy and hormonal balance. It also promises that inside-out glow that’s so vital during this transition….so I’ll report back about that soon. Have you tried it?
TRAVEL. If you follow along on Instagram, you know that we took a short road trip to the Ottawa River for some wild white water rafting. It was BEYOND fun and the perfect little getaway if you have older kids. The minimum weight requirement for the advanced rapids is 90lbs, so Sully just snuck in. He was very apprehensive but it was SO fun, SO doable and a fabulous adventure for us all. We booked through OWL Rafting. Our guide Colin was a gem, so experienced and knowledgable, and we couldn’t have had more fun. I also don’t think i’ve ever been so exhausted in all my life. 10/10
ADVICE. How do we feel about bathroom divorces?

Did we all survive the heat wave? Goodness knows, we’re in for more, so let’s focus on easy, breezy summer meals. Let’s give the oven a rest for now!
Summer is for sliced, salted tomatoes on toast, smoothie bowls, Panzanella salads, chia pudding and anything plucked from the garden, sliced, and grilled. Do you garden? I’m desperate to start one!
Also - don’t forget about my limited time discount for Inspired Go’s delicious salad delivery service. (they truly are inspired!) I’m always wary of delivery services when I can DIY it, but having these salads on hand has been so amazing for my whole family. I spend $144 for 12 salads. My favourites are the new Peach Caprese Salad. I also love the California Crunch. My girls love the Noodle Fraiche Salad and Fras is a super fan of the High Protein Cobb Salad. CODE: CHRISTIEWELLNESS. If they don’t yet deliver to your area, make sure to fill out this form to let them know you want your address on their map!
That’s it for me this Sunday morning. Thank you for reading and continuing to support this newsletter ❤️ Fill me in on what you’re up to and what you’d like to see more of. xoC
