Salted Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Salted Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Bars. Do I have your attention?

Salted. Brown Butter. Chocolate Chip. Cookie. Bars. I think they need to make an appearance in your kitchen this weekend.

I’ve made these twice in the last week. I can’t stop! They are the perfect weekend baking project.

Making bars is actually so much easier than rolling balls for individual cookies. Don’t you agree? You just dump and bake.

Funny. That seems to be the theme this week! Did you try this one?

Salted Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grab your 1/2 sheet pan or a 9 x 9 baking dish. Brush with the melted butter or spray with cooking spray.

  2. Start browning your butter. Place it in a medium pot over medium heat. Cook and let the butter bubble up, stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on it. You want to see little brown bits coming up off the bottom, but once this starts happening, it can burn very quickly. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.

  3. To a stand mixer or using a handheld mixer, combine the butter and the sugar until smooth. Add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

  4. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture, stirring until almost combined. Add the chocolate chips and fold until everything is dispersed.

  5. Dump onto the greased pan and press down to spread out. Bake for 20-25 minutes until just set and golden.

  6. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing into squares.

Enjoy!
