How to Make Delicious Vegan Date Caramel
Are you ready to experience the most delicious treat that you might not have known you needed? I was just recently introduced to date caramel by my friend Jenn. It’s a simple treat made by blending together fresh dates and coconut cream until it becomes this gorgeous and creamy, spreadable date butter that you want to put on everything.
Date caramel is a vegan alternative to caramel sauce and is so incredibly versatile. It’s now going to be my new go-to natural sweetener for all things treats and desserts.
How to use Date Caramel:
Spread it: use it for a topping for toast, pancakes, and waffles.
Top it: add it to yogurt bowls, ice cream, or drizzle it over a slice of pie.
Sweeten it: use it to naturally sweeten your morning oatmeal, your coffee, your smoothie or your baked goods
Dip it: slice up some fresh apples and dip them into this caramel sweetness for an after dinner treat or an afternoon snack.
Energize it: mix it with oats and mixed nuts to create delicious energy balls for a grab a go hit of energy!
How To Make Delicious Date Caramel
Ingredients:
25 fresh dates
1/2 cup coconut cream
pinch of salt
Directions:
If your dates are hard, you’ll want to soften them up by pouring boiling water over them and letting them sit for 5-10 minutes. Softer dates will blend better.
Add the softened dates, the coconut cream, and a pinch of salt to a high powered blender. Using the tamper, blend until you achieve a creamy texture.
Transfer the date caramel to a jar or container with a tight fitting lid. This will store well in the refrigerator for several weeks.
