Hiii beautiful!
Happy Father’s Day weekend — whether you’re celebrating a father, remembering one, or simply holding space for what this day brings up for you, I’m sending warmth your way. ✨
This day also brings up reflections about the men in our lives — partners, co-parents, husbands — who are walking alongside us through this midlife season.
Perimenopause can be confusing not just for us, but for them too. The changes in mood, energy, sleep, and intimacy can feel like uncharted territory. It’s not always easy to explain what’s happening inside our bodies when we’re still trying to understand it ourselves.
I feel incredibly grateful for Fraser, who has been so patient and open through my ups and very low lows. He's shown up with steady support — as a partner and as a co-parent. Even when I didn't have the words to explain what I was going through, he stayed present. That kind of partnership makes all the difference.
If you’re navigating this with a partner, know this: your experience is valid. Their support matters. And honest conversations can be a bridge back to connection.
Let this be your gentle reminder: you don’t have to go through this alone. And the more we talk about it — with each other and with our partners — the easier it gets.
This week, I’m writing to you from a very full heart after spending time hiking in the Swiss Alps. I had no expectations of what the trip would be, and it was everything I needed: fresh air, breathtaking views, invigorating hikes, and that feeling of being a little more you again. If Switzerland is on your wishlist, hit reply and I’ll send you some of my favourite things and tips — I’m already dreaming about when I can go back!
But let’s talk about something else that feels close to my heart right now: cortisol.
In my early days of perimenopause, I felt completely out of control. One day I was snapping at everyone, the next I was so tired I could cry by 3pm. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t focus. I was doing everything "right" and yet my body felt like it had betrayed me.
Sound familiar?
That’s why I’m hosting a free workshop this Thursday called From Chaos to Calm: Mastering Cortisol in Midlife. It’s going to be cozy, supportive, and packed with insights I wish I’d had earlier.
We'll cover:
How to recognize if your cortisol is high (and what else might be aggravating your perimenopause symptoms)
What cortisol does in a midlife body (and why yours might be overflowing)
Simple, science-backed ways to bring your nervous system back into balance
Cortisol-related symptoms might sound like:
Feeling wired but exhausted
Waking up between 2-4am like clockwork
Mood swings, anxiety, or a constant sense of overwhelm
Unexplained weight gain (especially around your middle)
If any of that sounds like you, come join me next Thursday. I promise, you're not alone, and there is a path forward.
Wishing you peace, presence, and just enough calm to carry you into next week.
With love,
Christie
P.S. Have a travel bug or cortisol question? Hit reply — I always love hearing from you.
PPS: I have spots open next week for a hormone clarity call. The women I work with usually start feeling a difference in 2–3 weeks once we adjust their food, movement, and stress support.
I want my summer to sounds like this playlist:
Some things you didn’t ask for (but might enjoy)...
HABITS. How are you feeling about summer? I absolutely LOVE summer, but I’m already stressed about the transition from school-year parenting to summer-parenting. My ADHD brain doesn’t do well with constant distractions, which are inevitable when the kids are home. I’m really hoping to embrace less productivity this summer….not sure i’ll be able to, but I’m going to give it a try! Any suggestions? I’m all ears!
Have you tried red light therapy yet? I’ve been loving my hands-free red light therapy mask. It takes about 12 weeks to see results, but I’m enjoying the self-care of it in my evening routine. You can use LOVESTORY for a discount on yours.
TRAVEL. If travel to Europe this summer is in the books, may I suggest this fabulous packing guide for the South of France (but would be fabulous for Portugal, Italy, Spain, Greece)! And don’t hesitate to email me for suggestions for the Swiss Alps! We stayed at the Hotel Falken, run by friends who feel like family and welcome you with the most loving arms. Happy to share our full itinerary!
ADVICE. As a ginger, I wish I wore more sunscreen in my teens and 20s. The combination of age, sun damage and age (!), has really taken a toll on my skin. My favourite SPFs are: Supergoop Setting Powder, Elta MD, and Vacation SPF. I bought it at Target when I was in Michigan and love the packaging.
Ummm….if you remember this product, you’re likely in perimenopause.
LISTENING. I stumbled across this podcast that is new to me, but obviously not new to most, because it’s the #1 Health and Wellness podcast. I loved the inspirational messaging.
READING. I went down a deep Dr. Joe Dispenza rabbit hole this week with his book Becoming Supernatural. I’ve been meditating every morning and am slowly starting to understand the power of his teaching.
SHOPPING. I grabbed a pack of these Swedish Dishcloths and am obsessed! Never not going to have these in my kitchen! Plus the designs spark joy!
SCROLLING. Move over Ken.
WATCHING. I’ve had my eye on a new series called Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne. Have you watched it? She plays Charlie, who has an uncanny ability to read people’s faces and she hits the road in her Plymouth Barracuda and can’t help but to solve all the crimes she comes across.
FOOD. It’s finally summer here in Toronto and we’ve been firing up the grill….it’s so great to change things up a bit. If you need some grill time inspo, may I suggest: Grilled Chicken Satay Skewers with Peanut Sauce, Miso Maple Marinated Chicken Thighs, Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken with Peach Salsa, Grilled Shrimp and Corn Salad.
That’s it for me this Sunday morning. Thank you for reading and continuing to support this newsletter ❤️ Fill me in on what you’re up to and what you’d like to see more of. xoC
